About Us

Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley, Inc. was founded in 2005 as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Brain Injury Connections combines public and private resources to provide specialized services for persons affected by brain injury in the Shenandoah Valley. Brain Injury Connections’ services are designed to meet the needs of the individuals we serve to maximize the person’s independence in the community. Our primary service is brain injury case management. Our Case Managers provide an array of services to meet their clients’ needs including assistance with employment and education, daily living and personal care, housing, finances, healthcare, and many others.

In early 2007, Brain Injury Connections was accepted as an affiliate member of James Madison University’s Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IIHHS) and moved into its offices in JMU Campbell Building on the University’s campus. Brain Injury Connections began serving individuals with brain injuries in March 2007. In October 2009, Brain Injury Connections opened a satellite office in Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville include all communities served currently. Brain Injury Connections’ service area encompasses the counties of Rockingham, Augusta, Page, Shenandoah, Bath, Highland, and Rockbridge and all the cities located within.

We are committed to serving those with the greatest need and least resources, therefore we do not charge a fee for services. We believe that by providing comprehensive case management services, fewer persons with brain injury will “fall through the cracks” of the rehabilitation system. On a much broader scale, by increasing independence and involvement in life activities, the overall cost to the community will be decreased as individuals will become more productive and less dependent on government or community support. To continue to provide services, we need your help. You can make a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by brain injury by making a tax-deductible donation, volunteering your time, making an in-kind donation, or by employing an individual with a brain injury.
